Transilvania Blues Festival reaches its fifth edition this year! We’re coming back on September 28-30 with premieres and exclusives in Romania and Brașov!
In the three evenings of the festival in the Rockstadt club, our faithful host, important artists of the genre will perform for the first time ! In addition to the international artists, we also want to promote the Romanian genre bands, already established local and domestic artists as well as debutante musicians, so the first evening – Thursday, September 28 – is dedicated to a unique local project – Nosferatu Blues or BLUESFERATU – a blues symphony. Our friends Yokko (Fernet Blues Company) and Wattzy have composed original music for F. W. Murnau’s silent masterpiece from 1922. They will be accompanied by other local guest musicians. It will be the first time that this cult film will be screened LIVE in blues tunes. The entry is free!

On the second evening, Friday September 29, we have two premieres in Romania! The German trio Muddy What?, with the energetic Ina Spang on guitar and mandolin, is a young and energetic group that declares its style as “New Blues”! The band from Munich won the German Blues Challenge in 2021 and are now attacking the European blues scene hard.
Then, straight from Brazil, Fred Sunwalk, guitarist extraordinaire, for the first time in our country, will give a recital of maximum caliber and intensity, with an air and atmosphere of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana.

The third day of the festival, Saturday September 30, starts with another Romanian premiere, a fabulous guitarist and vocalist, with a show in the North Mississippi style . Tony Holiday comes from Memphis, Tennessee, and has a new album at the top of the specialty charts, “Motel Mississippi”.

The 2023 edition of the Blues Caravan concert follows, for the first time in Romania and in Brașov. The Blues Caravan project is a unique, itinerant European one, initiated by the famous record label Ruf Records, with young and promising American and English artists. Every year it has a different composition, we also brought them in the last edition of the festival.
This year the Blues Caravan has three acts, three guitarists, three voices, a super female presence and one of the sure future names in blues, Ally Venable from Texas, Will Jacobs from Chicago and Ashley Sherlock from Manchester, UK.

During the two days of the festival, we will also organize a vinyl record fair and a photo exhibition related to the previous Transilvania Blues Nights & Festival events, captured on celluloid by Brașov photographer Genu Ariesianu.

The event is organized by the Transilvania Arts & Events Association and co-financed by Braşov City Hall.
